Wikipedia describes an "ukulele ( / j uː k ə ˈ l eɪ l i / yoo-kə- LAY -lee ; from Hawaiian : as a member of the lute family of instruments. It generally employs four nylon or gut strings or four courses of strings. Some strings may be paired in courses, giving the instrument a total of six or eight strings."Earlier this year the Rotary Club of Simcoe purchased a number of ukuleles for the students at Walsh Public School which is 8.5 miles south and west of Simcoe. On June 11, 2018, the club was invited to an ukulele concert at the school.
The Club has a long history of over 30 years supporting the musical arts and purchasing instruments for students in the school system.
Rotary members enjoyed the young students singing and playing their ukuleles. Could there be a future Bryan Adams, Gordon Lightfoot or Joni Mitchell among them?
