Jen Sitko

Jen Sitko has recovered from from debilitating  health concerns largely through yoga therapy - Rotarian Janice Demans (right) thanked Jen for speaking to us today.

Jen calmly walked us through stereotypes of Yoga starting with women decked out in the latest fashion attire and floor mats attending Yoga studios, to extremely fit people in extreme poses photographed on mountain tops. But there is so much more to Yoga available to all who practice its benefits and therapies.

The Eastern word Yoga translated implies a group of practices and disciplines that bring together the Physical with the Mental  and Spiritual awareness. Although Yoga originated in ancient Eastern religions, in the modern world Yoga's spiritual awareness takes place in the present moment shutting out past and future worries to focus well being, inner strength and perspective to list a few.

Healthy aging is achieved by extending one's self into these benefit areas- equipped to celebrate life's positives - to accept life's negatives. Jen has experienced more than 1,000 hours of training. She has worked in Long Term Care facilities in Toronto,  provided therapy to aging, addiction, Alzheimer patients and children; and seen recovery through the practices of Yoga from extreme trauma in skeletal and connective tissue cases.

Jen returned to Norfolk to facilitate her own recovery and is now offering individual client services. Initial consultations are at no charge. Jen's company is As You Are  Yoga Therapy at  647-268-7838 or email Jen at  jensitko@hotmail.com
